More than eight million cigarettes have been seized by Revenue officers at Dublin Port.
The cigarettes, with an estimated retail value of almost €4 million, were discovered during searches of freight which arrived in Ireland from Rotterdam.
The seized cigarettes were branded Mayfair and Richmond and represented a potential loss to the exchequer of €3.3m.
The foreign-registered truck which they were found in has been seized and the driver, a man in his 20s, was questioned.
Investigations are ongoing.
