A 47-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death of an elderly man in Dublin last night.

The man was arrested this evening and is being detained at Lucan Garda Station.

The elderly man, who has been named localy as Tony Timms, was discovered with serious injuries at a house in Rowlagh Green in Clondalkin at around 8.45pm yesterday evening.

Gardaí believe there was a domestic dispute at the house earlier.

He was taken to Tallaght Hospital but died there a short time later.

A post-mortem examination is due to be carried out tomorrow.

The scene has been preserved for a technical examination and gardaí at Ronanstown are investigating.

Gardaí have made door-to-door inquiries in the small cul de sac as part of their investigation.

They are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to contact them.
