Residents in the Dublin Mountains have expressed concern over the continued closure of a road, which they say has caused issues of access for emergency services.
A stretch of Edmondstown Road between the Merry Ploughboy pub and Tibradden Road - a distance of about 300m - was closed last November due to unauthorised excavation works which undermined the stability of the road.
At the time South Dublin Council said the road could be closed for up to one year to facilitate full remedial work, forcing motorists to take a detour of more than 5km.
Residents and local businesses have complained that the closure is causing "devastating" access issues.

On the 'Reopen Edmondstown Road Now' Facebook page they also report "at least five separate incidents of the emergency services getting stuck at the barrier".
A video posted to the page last night shows an ambulance unable to continue up the road and having to turn around.
"This is simply unacceptable. We cannot expect the emergency services to take a minimum 5km detour to access people on the other side of the Edmondstown Road. Action needs to be taken before there is a serious injury or death," the post continues.
South Dublin County Council said it "has been taking all possible steps to ensure remedial works are carried out so that the road can safely reopen.
Engagement on the matter has been ongoing and it is expected that the works will commence in the coming weeks."
