The ESB has said power has been restored to 6,800 customers in north Dublin so far, with more than 200 premises still without a supply.

It is expected that a full service will be restored by around midday.

At the peak of the outage, more than 7,000 homes and businesses were without power.

A fault caused a loss of supply to homes and businesses in the Cabra, Pelletstown and Phibsboro areas.
