Department store Arnotts was evacuated after a fire broke out in the menswear section of the shop.
Staff directed customers to the exits as the sprinkler system was activated.
In a statement, Arnotts said there was no risk to customers or staff and the fire was extinguished within minutes.
The store is due to reopen tomorrow as usual. Some of those who were in the store at the time reported on social media that they smelled smoke and saw the sprinklers activated.
