Hundreds have attended the funeral of Fr Jack Finucane, co-founder of aid agency Concern, at Kimmage Manor in Dublin.

He was heavily involved with the work of the charity and its efforts in Africa from the 1960s until his retirement in 2002.

President Michael D Higgins aide-de-camp was amongst the mourners, as was activist Ali Hewson. A note from her husband, Bono, who could not attend was read at the mass, expressing how humbled he was to know such a man.

The current CEO of Concern, Dominic MacSorley spoke about Fr Finucane's life, saying his actions saved and improved the lives of millions.

Fr Finucane died last week aged 80 years old.
