A 45-year-old man has been injured in a shooting at a house in Belcamp Cresent, Coolock, in Dublin.
The shooting happened shortly before midnight last night after a man forced his way into the house and shot the victim in his leg.
He received medical assistance at the scene before being taken to Beaumont Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The attacker is described as being a young man, 1.7m (5'7") tall, wearing a balaclava, a navy coloured hooded top, black gloves and black runners.
He fled from the scene on foot to a waiting car.
A short time later a blue BMW saloon, partial registration 02 C, was discovered, partially burnt out, at nearby Greenwood Walk.
A second car, a black coloured Volkswagen Golf with a partial registration number 99 D, was later found close to Shamrock Cottages in the North Strand area.
Both vehicles have been seized for technical examination and scenes have been preserved.
Investigations are on-going and no arrests have been made.
