A man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries following a machete attack in west Dublin today.
The incident took place in the Bawnogue area and is understood to be connected to an ongoing feud among Traveller families in the area.
The man in his 20s was attacked and chased into a house in the area.
It is understood he sustained facial injuries from a caustic substance and three of his fingers were cut off.
He was brought to Tallaght University Hospital for treatment.
The area was sealed off as a crime scene and gardaí in Clondalkin are investigating. Searches are also being carried out in the area.
Detectives say they are following a definite line of inquiry.
It is the latest in a series of violent incidents as part of the feud which has been ongoing for a number of years.
Threats have also been filmed and posted on social media.
