Man charged with murder over fatal Dublin city stabbing

A 23-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Quham Babatunde who was stabbed to death in Dublin city centre last weekend.

The man was arrested by the PSNI as he was about to board a ferry to Liverpool last Sunday.

Detectives were granted an additional 36 hours on Wednesday morning to question him about the murder.

Yesterday, the PSNI said the man had been charged with murder and was due to appear before Belfast Magistrates Court this morning.

He is the third person to be charged in connection with the violence during which Mr Babatunde was killed and a second man seriously injured.

21-year-old Rory Carr from Ard Na Gréine, Seapoint Lane in Balbriggan, Co Dublin and Jeffrey Bangu from Cardy Rock Crescent in Balbriggan have both been charged with violent disorder and assaulting the two victims causing them harm.

Both have been remanded in custody are due in court again next week.
