A garda investigation is under way into the death of a woman whose body was found at an apartment in Mallow, Co Cork this morning.
The scene where the woman's body was found has been sealed off and declared a crime scene.
It is understood the dead woman was in her 30s and was originally from a town in west Cork.
Gardaí and emergency services were called to the apartment at the Belfry, Bridewell Lane, in Mallow at around 10.30am.
It is understood the woman had suffered injuries and was declared dead there later.

Members of the Garda Technical Bureau have arrived to conduct a technical and forensic examination at the apartment.
Assistant State Pathologist Dr Margot Bolster has conducted a preliminary examination at the scene.
The woman's body has been removed to Cork University Hospital, where a post-mortem examination will be conducted.

A senior investigating officer has been appointed to oversee the investigation and an incident room established at Mallow Garda Station.
Gardaí are appealing to witnesses who were in the area between 9pm last night and 10.30am this morning to contact them, particularly anybody who might have phone or dashcam footage.
