Revenue officers have seized herbal cannabis worth over €5m during an operation at Rosslare Europort this morning.

The discovery of the drugs concealed in melons and oranges was made when officers searched an unaccompanied trailer that had arrived in from the port from Bilbao.

The trailer was selected for examination following routine profiling and, during the search, 227kg of herbal cannabis was found.

A spokeswoman for Revenue said investigations into the haul are continuing.

Such operations are "part of Revenue's ongoing work targeting drug smuggling and shadow economic activity," she said.

Anyone with information has been asked to contact the confidential Revenue line on 1800-295295.
