A man in his 30s is due to appear in court tomorrow morning charged in relation to the death of Elzbieta Piotrowska in Ardee, Co Louth.

Ms Piotrowska, a mother-of-two who was originally from Poland, was attacked and died from catastrophic injuries at her home in Ardee yesterday.

The 32-year-old man was questioned by gardaí at Drogheda Garda Station.

He is due to appear before Drogheda District Court tomorrow.

A post-mortem examination was due to be carried out on Ms Piotrowska’s body.

Deputy State Pathologist Dr Michael Curtis carried out a preliminary examination at the scene last night, before Ms Piotrowska's body was removed to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.

Forensic examinations are continuing at four sealed off locations, including the scene of the attack.
