A man in his 20s has been arrested as part of the investigation into the murder of another man last year.

Kane McCormack, who lived in Clonee, Co Meath, was shot dead in a killing believed to be linked to the ongoing feud between the Kinahan and Hutch criminal gangs.

The body of the 24-year-old was found in a field at Walterstown, Dunboyne, on 1 December 2017.

His father, Noel Kirwan, was shot dead three days before Christmas 2016, in another killing linked to the feud.

The 62-year-old was shot dead outside his home in Dublin.

As part of the investigation into Mr McCormack’s murder, gardaí carried out two early morning searches in Clondalkin in Dublin today.

Detectives from Ashbourne, along with officers from the Garda Bureau of Criminal Investigation and the armed support unit, were involved in the operation.

The arrested man is being detained at Ashbourne Garda Station.
