An Irish woman has pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of her fiancé David Walsh at their Sydney home in Australia in February last year.

The court in Sydney heard that Cathrina Cahill, who is also known as Tina Cahill, was suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder at the time.

It was also told that Mr Walsh had degraded and abused Ms Cahill.

Members of both families had travelled to Australia to be in court to hear that 27-year-old Ms Cahill, from Co Wexford, had pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of 29-year-old Mr Walsh, also from Co Wexford, after originally being charged with his murder.

She will be sentenced at a further hearing in court next month.
