Three men have appeared in court charged in connection with a seizure of €4.4m worth of cannabis in south Dublin and Kildare last Friday.
The men, aged in their 30s, appeared before Blanchardstown District court this afternoon.
The seizure was made following a joint operation involving the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau and Revenue Customs Service on Friday.
Stephen Allen, with an address at 36 Malahide Road, Raheny, is charged with five offences in total including four under the Misuse of Drugs Act and one under the Criminal Justice (Money Laundering & Terrorist Financing) Act.
The 37 year old is accused of being in possession of the proceeds of crime, €10,050, at a property at the The Dales, Barnhall Meadows, Leixlip, Co Kildare on Friday.
He is also charged with two counts of having cannabis in his possession at the same address and two counts of possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling or supplying.
Detective Garda Ciara McNulty told the judge she arrested Mr Allen in the early hours of yesterday morning, for the purpose of charging him, at Leixlip Garda Station.
The court heard that he made no reply when charged at 1.08am.
There was no objection to legal aid and Judge Cephas Power remanded Mr Allen in custody to appear before Cloverhill District Court on Thursday.
Barrister Ciaran MacLoughlin said he would make a bail application on that date.
Karl Gavigon, of 22 Shancastle Lawns, Clondalkin, Dublin, is charged with two offences under the Misuse of Drugs Act.
The 37 year old is accused of being in possession of cannabis for the purpose of selling or supplying at the property in The Dales, Barnhall Meadows, Leixlip, Co.Kildare on Friday.
Detective Garda Conor Tuite of the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution at Leixlip garda station yesterday.
He said Mr Gavigon made no reply when the charges were put to him.
Mr Gavigon was remanded in custody to appear before Cloverhill District Court on Thursday when a bail application will be made.
Judge Cephas Power granted legal aid after hearing Mr Gavigon was unemployed.
Josh Parkingson, with an address at 31 Woodale Drive, Ballycullen, Dublin 24, also appeared in court today charged with two offences under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1984.
The 36 year old is accused of being in possession of cannabis for sale or supply at Back Avenue, Leopardstown, Dublin 18 last Friday.
Detective Sgt Ronan McMorrow from the GNDOCB gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution of the accused at Dun Laoghaire Garda Station on Saturday,
The court heard he made no reply when charged.
Barrister for the accused Ciaran MacLoughlin said there would be no bail application today but would be making one on Thursday and asked for his client to be remanded in custody until then.
Judge Power agreed to remand him to appear before Cloverhill district court on Thursday.
