The President of the High Court has continued urgent orders he made last week for the care and protection of a child described as very vulnerable.

Mr Justice David Barniville made a number of orders on Thursday and Friday, to secure the protection of the minor, under the court's minor wardship jurisdiction, and adjourned proceedings until today.

The court directed that the hearings be in private but has allowed limited details to be reported following an application by the media on behalf of RTÉ, The Irish Times and Mediahuis, the publishers of the Irish Independent.

The minor was represented in court by a Guardian ad Litem as well as solicitors and barristers.

The court also heard from lawyers for the HSE and the child's parents.

Mr Justice Barniville agreed to continue the orders and reporting restrictions until Thursday when the matter will be back in court again.
