Two men plead not guilty to murder of Kieran Quilligan

Two men have pleaded not guilty to the murder of 47-year-old Kieran Quilligan at the Central Criminal Court sitting in Cork.

The two, 33-year-old Niall Long, of 35 St Michael's Close, Mahon and 27 year old Luke Taylor, of no fixed abode but formerly of Cherry Lawn, Blackrock, are both charged with the murder of Mr Quilligan on a date unknown between 1 September 2023 and 29 January 2024, at an unknown location within the State, contrary to common law.

Both men pleaded not guilty when they were arraigned before Ms Justice Siobhán Lankford at the Central Criminal Court sitting in Cork.

Ms Justice Lankford was told that the case could take up to four weeks and involves some 126 witnesses.

The trial before Ms Justice Lankford and a jury of two women and ten men is set to get under way on Wednesday, 8 October at 10.30am.
