Antrim GAA player Kavan Keenan has denied causing serious injury to a pedestrian in a hit-and-run incident.
Appearing at Antrim Crown Court, 26-year-old Mr Keenan entered not guilty pleas to five of the six charges against him.
At charge one Mr Keenan, from Millfield in Ballymena, denied causing grievous bodily injury by driving carelessly on the Glenravel Road on 26 October 2024.
He also entered not guilty pleas to charges of failing to stop, remain and report following an accident which caused injury.
The charges arise after a Peugeot Partner van struck a pedestrian on the Glenravel Road in Martinstown, just before 9pm that Saturday evening.
At the time, it was reported that the victim, a woman in her 30s, sustained "potentially life-changing" injuries as a result of the hit-and-run incident.
The allegedly stolen van was recovered later that evening and it was found to have sustained frontal damage.
Following the arraignment today, Mr Taggart told Judge Laura Ievers KC the defence will be instructing a forensic engineer to produce a report, adding that "there is some witness agreement.
Mr Keenan, who plays football for Antrim as well as his club All Saints GAC, was released on continuing bail on the same terms and Judge Ievers listed the case for trial on 28 January next year with a review on 17 October.
