Man further remanded on bail over possession of firearms, ammunition

A 21-year-old man accused of possession of firearms and ammunition allegedly purchased on the dark web last year has been remanded on continuing bail.

Shane Kinsella, from Tynock, Kiltegan, Co Wicklow, is accused of possessing a rifle, a semi-automatic pistol and ammunition on 2 March 2024, at Ponsonby Bridge, near Straffan, Co Kildare.

A second man, 22-year-old Daniel Quinn Burke from Allendale Lawn, Baltinglass, in Co Wicklow, has already pleaded guilty to possessing a firearm, a Remington semi-automatic pistol on 2 March 2024, at Ponsonby Bridge, near Straffan, Co Kildare.

Both men are due back before Naas Circuit Court in October.

A third man, Evan Fitzgerald, who was arrested and charged along with the two men, died from self- inflicted shotgun wounds at Carlow Shopping Centre on 1 June this year.
