A 41-year-old man has been accused of severely injuring another man who died following a collision in Balbriggan, Co Dublin on Monday night.
Daniel Rostas, from Hastings Green in Balbriggan, is charged with intentionally or recklessly causing serious harm to Mircea Rostas, who was pronounced dead at the scene on Railway Street, shortly after the incident.
Detective Garda John Delaney told the court that Mr Rostas made no reply after he was charged at Balbriggan Garda Station at 1.12am.
The court heard there would be an objection to bail but that application was not heard today.
Daniel Rostas' legal representative Sandra Frayne said she would reserve the right to apply for bail at a later date and the accused was remanded in custody to appear again before Cloverhill District Court via videolink on 3 July.
The court heard Mr Rostas would need the services of a Romanian interpreter.
The case was put back for DPP directions and his solicitor asked Judge Michele Finan that he be given medical attention as appropriate.
