A garda has been before Dublin District Court in connection to an incident in which a Brazilian man lost part of his leg.
Dublin-based garda Neil Doyle was charged with careless driving causing serious bodily harm to Joao Henrique Ferreria at Junction 11 of the M50 in Tallaght in Dublin in October 2023.
Barrister Lawrence Masterson, representing Mr Ferreria, told the court that his client had travelled to Ireland for the proceedings and was anxious for the matter to proceed.
Mr Masterson, instructed by solicitor Daniel Hughes, also told Judge Michéle Finan that his client would be having further prosthetic surgery in Brazil.
Joao Henrique Ferreria, 25, was in court today and was using crutches. Judge Finan granted an order of evidence disclosure to Garda Doyle's solicitor.
The matter is due back before the courts next month on 12 June.
