Convicted killer Freddie Thompson has accepted the option of moving his trial for assault and threats to kill to Tullamore, Co Offaly.
The 43-year-old, who appeared at Portlaoise Circuit court via video-link today, had made an application to move his trial to Dublin.
At an earlier hearing he claimed that his life is under threat because of his conviction for the murder of David Douglas in 2016.
He had asked the court that his trial be held in Dublin, where he said there is more security.
Thompson had raised serious concerns for his personal safety as he is brought from a prison van through a public area to the court in Portlaoise.
He said the security facilities were more appropriate at the Courts of Criminal Justice in Dublin.
At a hearing last month Judge Keenan Johnson gave Thompson the option of moving the trial to Tullamore courthouse, which has a secure access point that is closed to the public.
At a brief hearing this morning, Thompson accepted the option and thanked the Judge.
The court heard the trial will begin in Tullamore on 1 July and will last four to five days.
The case is before the courts on 20 May for mention. Thompson asked that he be present in court that day and his request was acceded to by Judge Keenan Johnson.
