Three men have appeared in court charged with criminal offences in connection with the riots at the old Crown Paints factory in Coolock last year.
Patrick Maughan, 21, of Chanel Grove in Coolock, 35-year-old Ross O'Neill from Buttercup Park in Darndale and 47-year-old Keith Daly from Moatview Drive in Coolock were all remanded on bail on a number of conditions including they stay away from accommodation international protection applicants and do not post on social media.
The riots began after it emerged the site was being considered by the Department of Integration to accommodate international protection applicants.
The three men were brought by gardaí from Coolock before the late sitting of the Dublin District Court, charged in connection with the riots at the old Crown Paints factory on the Malahide Road on 15 July last year.
Protests commenced after the Department of Integration decided to use the building to accommodate international protection applicants.
These escalated to riots on 15 July 2024 when equipment was moved on to the site in the early hours of the morning.
Mr Maughan is facing two charges, violent disorder and criminal damage.
The court was told he is alleged to have been throwing "chunks of concrete" at uniformed gardaí and the public order unit that day at the Odeon carpark across the road from the site.
Garda Paul Reddy said he was captured on CCTV and later in a nearby McDonald’s changing his clothes.
Mr O’Neill is charged with violent disorder and rioting on the Malahide Road and allegedly producing a long wooden object to intimidate someone, which is capable of inflicting serious injury.
Mr Daly faces four charges including burglary, theft and criminal damage.
He is alleged to have gone into the site and taken four beds which the court was told he brought over to a fire.
He is also alleged to have pulled cardboard units from a truck and let them fall to the ground, extensively damaging them.
Gardaí objected to bail but Judge Michelle Finan granted all three men bail on similar conditions including they be contactable by gardaí on mobile phones, stay away from the old Crown Paints site and all IPAS centres and do not post on social media.
All three were granted free legal aid and are due back in court for DPP’s directions on 19 May.
