Five men have appeared before Dublin District Court charged with assault causing serious harm and the false imprisonment of a man last week.
Kenneth Fitzsimons, 44, from Castlecurragh Vale in Blanchardstown, and his 24-year-old son Dean Fitzsimons, along with 29-year-old Jason Hennessy, 28-year-old Devon Hennessy and 21-year-old Brandon Hennessy, with an address at Sheephill Avenue in Blanchardstown, all appeared before a late night sitting of the district court last night.
Each is charged with assault causing serious harm and false imprisonment along with charges of producing an article in the course of a dispute.
Jason Hennessy is also facing a further charge of criminal damage.
All were remanded in custody by Judge Paula Murphy, who refused bail for each of the men.
They are due to appear again before Cloverhill District Court on Tuesday via videolink.
The court heard objections to bail from Detective Sergeant Mark Murphy of Blanchardstown Garda station who told the judge that he was objecting to bail on the basis of the seriousness of the charges as well as concern that the victim in this case could be interfered with as a witness.
The five men were represented in court by solicitor Simon Fleming and barrister Oisín Clarke BL.
Mr Clarke said notwithstanding the seriousness of the evidence alleged, all of the men had the right to a presumption of innocence.
The court earlier heard that each of the men had made no reply when arrested and cautioned after having been questioned at garda stations across Dublin.
Judge Paula Murphy considered each of the cases separately before she refused bail.
All of the men were remanded in custody to appear before Cloverhill District Court via videolink at 10am on Tuesday for directions from the DPP.
