Two men have been remanded in custody charged with a range of organised crime, money laundering and drugs-related offences in connection with the Drogheda feud.
Gary Kelly, 29, and 27-year-old Dean Thornton, both of Moneymore, Drogheda, appeared before Dundalk District Court this morning.
Both men are facing Section 72 charges for facilitating organised crime, the sale and supply of drugs and money laundering.
All of the offences are alleged to have occurred in Drogheda between March 2023 and January 2025.
Garda Dean Hyland gave evidence of charging Mr Kelly at Dundalk Garda Station at 10.30pm last night.
Garda Niall McManus gave evidence of charging Mr Thornton at Drogheda Garda Station just after 11pm last night.
The court was told both men made no reply after caution.
Mr Thornton is also facing other money laundering offences at various locations in Drogheda, while Mr Kelly is accused of other drugs-related offences in Moneymore.
Given that both men are facing Section 72 charges for facilitating organised crime, the district court did not have jurisdiction to consider bail in relation to these alleged offences.
Barrister for the defendants, Ronan O'Carroll, told the court that there are significant safety concerns for both men should they be remanded in custody to Cloverhill Prison.
Judge Stephanie Coggans accepted a recommendation for both of the accused to be remanded in custody at Mountjoy Prison.
They are due to appear again before Drogheda District Court, sitting in Dundalk, on Tuesday for the direction of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
