Three people have appeared in court charged in connection with the murder of a toddler in Co Tyrone at the weekend.
They include the little girl's mother and an aunt. The mother is charged with manslaughter. Her boyfriend is accused of murder.
Twenty-three-month-old Tavia Michella Ximenes Da Costa was found dead in a house at Windmill Court, Dungannon on Sunday.
She was a member of the East Timorese community.
The court heard that the cause of death was a brain injury "caused by blunt force trauma" and there was evidence she had been shaken.
Charged with her murder is 29-year-old Januaria Sarmento Ximenes of Windmill Court, Dungannon.
The court heard a pathologist had found grip marks on the child's arm and a scald on her ear. None of the injuries were more than five days old.
The court heard Mr Ximenes had been out in a nightclub in Dungannon until the early hours of Sunday morning.
Local police had observed him outside the club and described his behaviour as "angry and aggressive".
They believed he had gone home around 2.30am, though he claimed he had stayed out until much later.
Police interviewed a neighbour who said she had heard two women screaming hysterically in the house at around 2.30am.
The screaming had lasted for 10 minutes and was described as "intense".
The prosecution claims the timing was significant and coincided with Mr Ximenes' return from the nightclub.
The child's mother also appeared before Strabane Magistrates' Court.

21-year-old Suzi Augusta Jacinta Da Costa of Windmill Court is charged with her daughter's manslaughter and a separate offence of causing or allowing the death of a child.
The court was told she had initially claimed that her daughter had fallen and that Mr Ximenes was a "great guy".
She changed her account in subsequent interviews to claim Mr Ximenes had been "violent and abusive" towards her and her daughter.
Her sister, 24-year-old Suzana Da Costa Ximenes of Windmill Court, faces a similar charge of causing or allowing the death of a child.
All three defendants face an additional charge of cruelty to a child.

A police officer told the court he believed he could connect them to the charges.
The prosecution told the court police believed none of the defendants had provided a truthful account of what had happened. None had been able to explain the screaming heard coming from the house.
The court was told Tavia's body was found when her grandmother was called to the property on Sunday morning.
The child was found with a blanket over her head and appeared to have been dead for some time. Mr Ximenes is alleged to have said: "Let's resolve this as a family." He was said to be "calm and emotionless".
Another relative called 999.
The accused all appeared via videolink. Bail applications were made and objected to by police.
A solicitor for the child's mother claimed her client was a victim of coercive control and domestic abuse.
The district judge said she would not grant bail due to the fact that the charges were so serious and the investigation was in its early stages.
All the bail applications were refused and the accused were remanded in custody until next month.
