Eight charged with drugs, money laundering offences

Eight people have been charged with drugs and money laundering offences in relation to the Drogheda feud.

Seven of the accused, one man and six women who are from Drogheda, Meath and Dublin, appeared before Judge Stephanie Coggans at Drogheda District Court today.

One of the accused did not appear in court today but has been charged.

Garda John Walsh of the Drogheda Drugs Unit gave evidence of arresting Michaela Fitzpatrick, 32 and from Rathmullan Park in Drogheda, at just before 10.50am this morning.

Ms Fitzpatrick was charged under Section 72 of the Criminal Justice Act 2006, which relates to the facilitation of organised crime, for an offence on 24 January 2024. She was also accused of a number of drugs-related offences.

She was remanded in custody to appear before Drogheda District Court again this day next week.

Luke Lawless, 30 and from Knockbrack Downs in Drogheda, was charged with two money laundering offences.

Leah Smith, 26, from St Cronan's, Swords, Dublin; Amy Rooney, 30, from Newtown Meadows in Drogheda; and Niamh McManus, 37, from The Maudelins, Duleek, Co Meath, were each charged with one money laundering offence.

Marlena Aleksandrowicz, 28, from Bridgefield in Northwood, Santry, Dublin; Jade Heeney, 26, from the Hill of Rath in Drogheda; and Annie Smith, 28, of The Alders, Avourwen in Drogheda, were all charged with one count of money laundering.

The offences in question range in dates from 2020 to 2022.

All seven of the accused were remanded on bail to appear before the Drogheda District Court again on 25 November.
