Proceedings against a former TD accused of drug driving and driving without insurance have been adjourned at Tuam District Court until next month.
Former Labour and Fianna Fáil TD Colm Keaveney had been charged with driving with cocaine in his system, contrary to the Road Traffic Act.
Mr Keaveney was arrested at a multi-agency checkpoint at Cummer, Tuam, Co Galway, on 12 June 2023.
A charge of driving without insurance, alleged to have occurred on the same date, was brought against Mr Keaveney last month.
A further charge of driving without insurance on a separate date was also adjourned today.
Judge Fiona Lydon adjourned all charges until 12 November 2024.
Mr Keaveney is remanded on continuing bail.
Mr Keaveney was elected as a Labour Party TD for Galway East in 2011 but subsequently left the party and joined Fianna Fáil.
He lost his Dáil seat in 2016 and went on to serve on Galway County Council.
He no longer holds elected office.
