Two men have appeared in court charged in connection with a €2.1m cannabis seizure in Dublin.
The drugs, which weighed around 105kgs, were seized as part of a joint operation between Revenue and gardaí yesterday.
The two men appeared before the Criminal Courts of Justice where the court heard that both men had been charged under section 3 and 15 of the misuse of Drugs Act.
Detective garda Shane Kiely of the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau said the charges arose from a joint operation between gardaí and Revenue, involving a package which arrived into Dublin Airport from Toronto in Canada.
The package was brought to an industrial estate in Dublin 10 and collected.
At this point gardaí moved in and arrested the two men.
The package was later found to contain 105kgs of cannabis.
Detective garda Kiely said neither man made any reply when charged at Clondalkin Garda Station.
No application for bail was made in the case of Jaime Stalker of 211 Liverpool Road, Liverpool in the UK.
He was remanded in custody until 30 May.
Gardaí objected to bail for the second man, Niall Maher of 19 Cherry Orchard Drive, Ballyfermot, in Dublin 10 for several reasons, including the seriousness of the offence and what gardaí said was the strong prospect of the man reoffending.
Judge Brendan Toale refused bail on these grounds and remanded him in custody to appear before Cloverhill District Court on 30 May.
