A man has been charged with the murder of Co Kerry firearms dealer Paddy O'Mahony whose body was found at his home near Castlemaine at the weekend.
Thomas Carroll, 66, with an address at Brookway, Clonmel, Co Tipperary, was remanded in custody for a week.
Mr O'Mahony was 84, a widower, father and grandfather.
He was a firearms dealer and enthusiast and a founding member of An Ríocht Gun Club and the Kingdom Ríocht Rifle and Shooting Range.
On Sunday morning, Mr O'Mahony was found dead at his home near Castlemaine in Co Kerry.
A post-mortem examination on Monday confirmed he had been shot, and investigating gardaí arrested a man for questioning.

This afternoon, Mr Carroll was brought before the district court in Tralee.
He faces a single charge of murder.
Detective Sergeant Mark O'Sullivan gave evidence of arresting and charging Thomas Carroll. He said he made no reply when he put the murder charge to him at midday.
An application for free legal aid by solicitor Patrick Mann was granted by Judge John King.
Mr Mann asked that authorities at Cork Prison be made aware that Mr Carroll is on a range of medications and that these would be made available to him.
This afternoon's hearing was over in three minutes.
Mr Carroll was remanded in custody, but an application for bail is expected to be made to the High Court on his behalf.
He will be back before the court in Tralee next Wednesday.
