An 18-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Tristan Sherry, who was killed following a shooting at a Dublin restaurant on Christmas Eve.

A second man has been charged with assault causing harm to Mr Sherry.

Mr Sherry was a gunman in the attack at Browne's Steakhouse on Main Street in Blanchardstown on Sunday 24 December.

David Amah, of Hazel Grove, Portrane Road, Donabate, Co Dublin, appeared before Blanchardstown District Court charged with his murder.

Garda Sergeant Emma Ryan gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution.

She said Mr Amah was charged by another garda in her presence in Finglas Garda station just after 6pm yesterday evening.

The court heard he made no reply when handed a copy of the charge sheet.

Judge Máire Conneely said bail did not arise at this time. Only the High Court can grant bail in murder cases.

He also applied for legal aid for his client, saying he is currently unemployed.

Judge Conneely granted legal aid and remanded Mr Amah in custody to appear before Cloverhill District Court on 9 January.

Wayne Deegan, of Linnetsfield Avenue, Phibblestown in Dublin, also appeared in court this morning charged with assault causing harm, violent disorder and producing a knife on 24 December.

He was granted legal aid and remanded in custody to appear before Cloverhill District Court on Friday 12 January.

Judge Conneely granted legal aid subject to receiving a statement of means.

Michael Andrecut, 22, with an address at Sheephill Avenue in Dublin 15, was the first charged with Mr Sherry’s murder.

He is due back in court on 16 January.

Meanwhile, Jason Hennessy Snr, aged 48, who was shot at the restaurant, died in hospital yesterday.

A murder investigation is now under way into Mr Hennessy's death.
