A senior figure in the Kinahan organised crime group has pleaded guilty to hiding over €250,000 in cash in the attic of a house in Co Kildare.
Declan Brady, with an address at The Park, Wolstan Abbey, Celbridge, Co Kildare, admitted concealing €268,940 in The Dairy, Rathasker Road, Naas, Co Kildare, on 24 January 2017.
The 55-year-old is currently serving 11-and-a-half years in prison after he admitted supervising the gang's firearms arsenal in a Co Dublin business park, which included several revolvers, pistols, a sub-machine gun, an assault rifle, and thousands of rounds of ammunition.
He became known as 'Mr Nobody' because gardaí previously did not know about his criminal activities and only became aware of him when he was seen at the funeral of Kinahan gang member David Byrne, who was shot dead at the Regency Hotel in in 2016.
In court today, Brady admitted to being involved in the gang's money laundering operation. He pleaded guilty to concealing €268,940 cash in the attic of the house in Naas.
Two weeks ago his wife, Deirdre, and a friend, Erika Lukacs, who were arrested and charged at the same time also pleaded guilty to money laundering offences.
Prosecuting Counsel Fiona Murphy SC told the court that there will be additional pleas required from Brady, his wife and Lukacs when all three are before the court again on 14 June.
Mr Justice Tony Hunt, presiding, sitting with Judge Sarah Berkeley and Judge David McHugh remanded Brady in custody for sentence hearing on 14 June.
