Two men have appeared before Cork District Court charged with the murder of a man in the city last year.
Timothy Hourihane was found unconscious close to his burning tent on Mardyke Walk on 13 October 2019.
The 53-year-old was taken to Cork University Hospital where he later died, without regaining consciousness.
James Brady (pictured below), 26, of Shannon Lawn, Mayfield in Cork, and Christy O'Sullivan, 37, of no fixed abode, have been charged with the murder of Mr Hourihane.
Mr O'Sullivan faces an additional charge of criminal damage to a tent on the same date.
Detective Garda Oisín Cotter gave evidence of the arrest, charge and caution of Mr O'Sullivan. He said the defendant made no reply when the charges were put to him under caution.
Garda Lorna Healy gave evidence of the arrest, charge and caution of Mr Brady. He also made no reply when the charge was put to him under caution.
Gardaí indicated that the Director of Public Prosecutions had directed that both men be tried by indictment at the Central Criminal Court.
Judge Marie Keane granted free legal aid to both men and remanded them in custody to appear in court by video link next Friday.
