A retired primary school teacher who was convicted of indecently assaulting Dublin school boys five decades ago has not appeared in court for his sentence hearing for a second consecutive day.
78-year-old Patrick Harte of Glendown Park, Templeogue, Dublin was found guilty last March of the abuse of seven primary school boys at Synge Street, Dublin between September 1968 and September 1970.
The court was told that Harte was referred to Tallaght Hospital by his GP this morning.
Judge Martin Nolan said that Harte had an ability to become ill at the most inopportune time for the court and at the most opportune time for himself and adjourned the case until later this week.
Harte was due to be sentenced yesterday but did not appear and applied to have his sentence delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
That application was rejected by the judge.
