A 31-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a man in Dublin four years ago.
David 'Daithi' Douglas was shot dead as part of the ongoing Hutch Kinahan criminal gang feud.
Lee Canavan, of no fixed abode, was brought by detectives from Kevin Street Garda Station to the Courts of Criminal Justice this morning.
He was extradited from the UK yesterday with the assistance of the Air Corps and detained upon his arrival in Baldonnel.
He has been charged with the murder of Mr Douglas, who was shot dead in his partner's shoe shop on Bridgefoot Street on 1 July 2016.
Detective Sergeant Mark Kelly gave evidence of the arrest, charge and caution.
He told the court he arrested Mr Canavan at Casement Aerodrome in Baldonnel at 4pm yesterday on foot of two warrants issued over three years ago.
Mr Canavan was brought to Kevin Street Garda Station where he was charged with the murder of Mr Douglas and criminal damage to a car on Strand Road in Sandymount on 4 July 2016, three days after the murder.
He replied "no comment" to both charges.
His defence solicitor, Tracy Horan, told the court that the case will be sent forward to the Special Criminal Court.
She asked the court to direct that he will be held on remand at Mountjoy Prison instead of Portlaoise Prison.
Detective Garda Kelly had the same application and said security arrangements were in place.
Judge John Hughes granted the accused free legal aid and remanded him in custody to appear again at Cloverhill District Court next Wednesday for service of the book of evidence.
He also recommended that Mr Canavan receive appropriate medical treatment after he was told that he required urgent medical attention for a tumour he was being treated for in the UK.
