Two people have appeared in court charged in connection with a gang related murder in Dublin last year.

Lacey O'Connor, 28, and 45-year-old Mark Casserly both with an address in Rowlagh Park in Ronanstown were charged with perverting the course of justice

They were released on bail to appear again at Blanchardstown District Court in July.

Wayne Whelan, 42, was shot dead before the car he was in was set on fire at Mount Andrew Rise on 18 November 2019.

He was identified through DNA three days later.

Ms O'Connor faces one charge of perverting the course of justice in November while Mr Casserly faces two such charges on 5 and 12 of December.

Sergeant John Conway and Detective Garda Mark Rowantree gave evidence of arresting the accused at Ronanstown Garda station at 9am and both accused made no reply when charged.

There was no Garda objection to bail and Ms O'Connor and Mr Casserly were both released on bail after agreeing to surrender and not to apply for a passport and sign on daily at Ronanstown Garda Station.

Judge Gerard Jones also granted them free legal aid.
