A 19-year-old Tipperary student died from ingestion of ecstasy and morphine after falling ill at the Indiependence music festival in Cork last year.
A Cork Coroner's inquest into the death of Jack Downey, from Clonmel, heard that the Cork Institute of Technology (CIT) student died from total organ failure despite the efforts of doctors to stabilise his condition.
Jack, a first year accountancy student, died on 5 August, three days after falling ill at the popular festival.
Assistant State Pathologist Dr Bolster told the court that the cause of death was total organ failure due to hyperthermia after the ingestion of ecstasy, metamphetamine and morphine.
The inquest was adjourned until 20 August by Coroner Philip Comyn after medical evidence was heard, as the garda investigation into the teenager's death is ongoing.
