A garda has pleaded guilty to dangerous driving causing the death of a mother of three in a crash in Co Meath four years ago.
Patrick McDonnell with an address at Corofin, Co Galway, was due to go on trial at Trim Circuit Court today.
However, the court heard Mr McDonnell would be pleading guilty to the charge of dangerous driving causing the death of Jacqueline Wolohan on 13 February 2016.
The 51-year-old from Coolock in Dublin was on her way back from Longford to her home with her son, his friend and her cousin when the crash happened.
McDonnell was off-duty at the time of the crash, which happened on the M4 at Rossan, Kinnegad.
He will be sentenced on 11 March when the court will also hear victim impact statements from the Wolohan family.
