A three-time All-Ireland winning Cork camogie player is to plead not guilty in her upcoming trial over the alleged assault of two women in a nightclub last year.

Cork captain Ashling Thompson, 28, was charged with assaulting Aoife O'Flaherty and Jennifer Coakley in two separate incidents at Secret Garden at Reardon's on Washington Street in Cork on 25 February 2018.

Her solicitor Eddie Burke, who sought a trial date at Cork District Court today, indicated that his client would be pleading not guilty.

Asked by Judge Olann Kelleher if the case would take long, Mr Burke indicated that it could up to two hours.

A trial date has been set for 1 May.
