Two women have been before a district court in Co Galway, to face charges in connection with the deaths of two pedestrians in Ballinasloe earlier this year.
Deirdre Kilmartin and Maureen Dooley both sustained fatal injuries following a collision on Station Road in the town on 22 March.
Lena McDonagh - with an address at Roseville Cottage, Station Road, Ballinasloe - was charged at Ballinasloe District Court with driving without due care and attention, causing the deaths of the two pedestrians.
Mariea Fitzgerald, of Rath Glass, Creagh, Ballinasloe, faces a similar charge, arising from the same incident.
The court was told that the DPP had instructed the matter be dealt with as trial by indictment at circuit court level.
Both women were remanded on continuing bail to a sitting of Ballinasloe District Court in November, when the book of evidence will be presented.
