The Department of Health has been notified of a further 5,649 PCR-confirmed cases of Covid-19, as well as 5,387 positive antigen tests logged through the HSE portal.
The number of patients in hospital with Covid-19 has reduced by 32 to 595 today, the lowest hospital figure since late December.
As of this morning there were 63 people being treated for the virus in intensive care.
Yesterday, the department was also notified of 63 new Covid-related deaths, bringing the total number of virus-related deaths in Ireland to 6,291.
Meanwhile, latest figures from the Health Protection Surveillance Centre show that there have been 19 Covid deaths in the past week, with a date of death notified in the week to 8 February.
The average age was 82 years.
These figures differ from the 63 Covid-19 deaths reported today by NPHET, as deaths newly notified since last Wednesday.
The NPHET figure includes deaths which may have occurred before last week but which have been recently reported.
In Northern Ireland, a further seven people who had previously tested positive for Covid-19 have died, the Department of Health said.
Another 3,609 confirmed cases of the virus have also been notified in the last 24-hour reporting period.
