The Department of Health has been notified of three further deaths of people with Covid-19 and 457 new confirmed cases.

There has now been a total of 4,718 Covid-19 related deaths in Ireland and 238,148 confirmed cases.

As of 1 April, 893,375 Covid vaccine doses were administered in Ireland: 636,963 first doses and 256,412 second doses.

Figures earlier today showed showed the number of people in hospital with Covid-19 remained stable at 242.

This is the lowest level since before Christmas, when Covid-19 hospitalisations were 239 on 23 December.

There were eight more patients admitted to hospital with the virus over the past 24 hours and during that same period six patients were discharged.

The number of people in ICU with Covid-19 has fallen from 65 to 58 since yesterday. This is the lowest number of people with the virus being treated in intensive care since 2 January.

Meanwhile, the roll-out of Ireland's vaccination programme continues today in locations including the Helix and the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.

At the Aviva, around 2,000 people with underlying medical conditions are receiving vaccines this weekend.

Among those receiving their vaccines today are those in Cohort 4 - people with an underlying medical condition that puts them at high risk from Covid-19.
