Man in his 60s dies following car crash in Roscommon

A man in his 60s has died following a car crash in Co Roscommon this morning.

The incident occurred at Carrigans Park, Donamon, in Co Roscommon.

The man, who was driving the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was the sole occupant of the car.

The man's body was taken to the mortuary at University Hospital Galway. A post-mortem examination will take place in due course and the coroner has been notified.

The road was closed today for a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators, with local diversions in place.

Gardaí are appealing to road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) - who were travelling in the area of Carrigans Park, Donamon, Co Roscommon, between 5am and 9am - to make it available to gardaí.
