An Easter Parade in a County Roscommon town is marking its close association with the puppet Bosco today.

For almost 30 years, Strokestown has had a long tradition of having a community Easter Parade and the theme this year is 'Bringing back Bosco'.

In 1982 Strokestown became the manufacturing home for the famous Irish children's television puppet.

RTÉ licensed the local Slievebawn Co-op and Strokestown Craft Work to produce the handmade dolls.

There were eight full-time workers and over 20 people involved part time on the project to meet the demand for Bosco puppets.
