A woman in her 80s has died following a road crash in Co Galway yesterday evening.

The crash occurred at around 8.15pm at Rooaun, near Eyrecourt.

The woman, who was travelling alone, was pronounced dead at the scene and her body was removed to Portiuncula University Hospital in Ballinasloe.

The road is closed for a technical examination and local diversions are in place.

Three people were killed in a three-vehicle collision in Co Armagh and a 16-year-old girl died in a hit-and-run in Co Meath.
