A woman in her 80s has died after a collision between the SUV she was a passenger in and a truck in Co Roscommon.
The collision took place on the N5 at Scramoge shortly after 5pm on Tuesday.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and her body was removed and a post-mortem examination will be arranged.
The driver of the SUV, a woman in her 70s, was transferred by air ambulance to University Hospital Galway for treatment of serious injuries.
No other injuries were reported.
The road was closed pending an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators, with local diversions in place.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.
