The Health Service Executive has said that work is continuing on a review of maternity services at Portiuncula University Hospital in Co Galway.
A total of nine investigations are under way into separate incidents at the Ballinasloe hospital, between late 2023 and the start of this year.
Two of the cases were stillbirths. In the other seven, babies experienced reduced blood flow to the brain around the time of their births. The medical definition for this is hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE).
The HSE said two reviews, in relation to cases in 2023, are nearing completion. Five more, covering much of 2024, are expected to be finished by June.
The two remaining reviews, into incidents late last year and early this year, are said to be at a preliminary stage.
In January, external experts were appointed to oversee maternity services at the hospital, amid concerns about the provision of care there.
The Health Service Executive said the incidence of HIE at the Ballinasloe hospital was "significantly higher" than that observed at other maternity units nationally or internationally.
The new management team is responsible for all aspects of maternity and gynaecology services, to ensure the care available is as safe as possible for mothers and their babies.
