Galway City Council has said an issue with cash payments at parking meters has been resolved.
Problems with machines around the city meant the option to pay fees with coins was not available over the last fortnight.
As a result, the local authority announced a "grace period", during which fines for non payment of parking charges were not issued.
That arrangement lapsed this morning.
In a statement, the council said coins are now being accepted again at all Pay and Display machines.
The option to pay by tapping credit or debit cards no longer applies, after the council introduced a new mobile phone app, as part of an effort to digitise more services.
Motorists can now pay parking charges by cash, online, by phone, via the dedicated app or by visiting a number of retail outlets, which facilitate the collection of fees.
Confusion over the issue in recent weeks led to widespread criticism at a recent meeting of the local authority.
Parking charges, and associated fines, bring in around €4 million in revenue to the city each year.
That figure is expected to be impacted by the disruption to the payment methods since 7 January.
