A teenage boy has died in a road crash in Co Mayo in the early hours of this morning.
The single vehicle crash occurred on the R316 at Keel, Acaill, shortly before 1am.
The 17-year-old boy, who was travelling alone, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The road is closed for a technical examination, affecting access to areas on Acaill, west of Keel.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses, particularly anyone with video footage (including dash-cam), from the area at the time, to contact Westport Garda Station on 098 502 30, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station.
The boy is the fifth person to lose their life on the roads so far this year.
