Homeowners in Galway city will have an additional 15% added to their Local Property Tax bills in 2025, after the City Council approved a rate increase.
A meeting to consider the matter had been adjourned two weeks ago, to allow for further discussions between elected representatives on how to proceed.
The decision to increase the rate is expected to generate an additional €7 million in revenue over the next five years.
It is the first time the LPT has been increased in the city, since the tax was introduced.
